Our Team

Meet Our Dedicated Veterinary Team

Our entire staff is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care for your pet in a stress-free environment.

Dr. Liz McGowan

Veterinarian

Originally from Staten Island, New York, Dr. Liz McGowan knew from a young age that she wanted to become a veterinarian and has worked hard to turn that goal into reality. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware, where she majored in pre-veterinary medicine and animal biosciences with a minor in wildlife conservation. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University and completed her clinical training at the University of Florida.

Dr. McGowan is known for her gentle, compassionate approach and is dedicated to helping as many patients and clients as possible. She is especially passionate about supporting quality of life for all animals and enjoys working with anxious pets, helping them feel more comfortable through patience, positive interactions, and care. Her professional interests include surgery, urinary disease, and caring for small companion mammals and exotic pets.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. McGowan enjoys spending time at home with her husband, Stephan, stepdaughter, Grayce, and their pets, including dogs Chimichanga and Lilly, cats Honeydew and Chicken Nugget, and their crested gecko, Mango. She also enjoys houseplants and gardening, hiking, snorkeling, reading, and volunteering with Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, where she helps care for rehabilitating sea turtles.

Dr. Kirra Johnson

Veterinarian

Dr. Kirra Johnson is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian with a lifelong passion for animals of all shapes and sizes. She earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Health Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Lincoln Memorial University.

Dr. Johnson’s professional interests span a wide range of species—from household pets like cats and dogs to exotic animals such as hedgehogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and aquatic species. She also has experience caring for farm animals, including goats, sheep, horses, cattle, poultry, and waterfowl. With a strong belief in the importance of the human-animal bond, Dr. Johnson is committed to supporting both pets and the people who love them, ensuring all animals receive the care and compassion they deserve.

Dr. Bailey Rickman

Veterinarian

Dr. Bailey Rickman grew up in Pensacola, Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of West Florida and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida.

Dr. Bailey loves veterinary medicine because it allows her to combine her two lifelong passions — caring for animals and educating people. She believes the best care comes from building trust and collaboration with each family. She knows that, ultimately, her goal is the same as the owner: keeping tails wagging and hearts healthy for as long as possible.

Dr. Bailey’s approach is collaborative and realistic — she’ll always discuss gold-standard care, but enjoys working with owners to tailor plans that fit both their pet’s health needs and their personal goals. She’s known for her calm presence, thorough communication, and ability to make even nervous pets (and owners) feel at ease.

Her professional interests include preventive medicine, senior pet care, behavior, and dermatology. She’s especially passionate about helping anxious pets have positive, fear-free visits. Finding handling plans that help reduce stress is one of her favorite wins as a veterinarian.

At home, Dr. Bailey loves spending time with Maple and Hydro, her two rescue pittie mixes. Maple is the resident diva who insists on attention and delivers expert side-eye when things aren’t up to her standards. Hydro is the water-loving goofball who believes every delivery box hides a secret stash of treats. Together, they keep life fun and full of laughter.

Outside of work, Dr. Bailey enjoys reading, yoga, kayaking, traveling, and exploring local coffee shops, breweries, and farmers’ markets. She’s new to the area and always open to local recommendations — especially if food is involved!
